How do I link my checking / savings account to my Altruist Account(s)

To link your account in Altruist in order to transfer funds after opening your account, see the instructions below

In the desktop portal, you’ll click the top right icon that contains your initials.

Click "Settings" in the bump out menu.

Then once in settings, click the "Accounts" tab

Scroll down to "Funding Accounts" section and click "Add Funding Account"

(On the mobile app, tap Profile > Funding Accounts > Choose which account you are linking > Add Funding Account > Add New)

Once you click to add, a window for "Plaid" will open. Plaid works between financial institutions to provide a secure connection to link your accounts.

In the plaid window, click continue. Then choose your financial institution you are linking if it is in view, or search in the search bar.

Once you click your financial institution, provide your credentials to log in, and follow the prompts.

If you are unable to find your institution, no problem. Just scroll down below the list of banks for the option at the bottom that says “Link with Account Numbers.”

Next input your bank account and routing numbers directly.

In 1-3 business days, you will receive a micro-deposit with a transaction number.

Once the account(s) are linked, you can also set up one-time or recurring automatic deposits at the frequency you prefer.

If you have any issues after trying both using your bank listed and the alternative method of inputting account numbers directly, try the following steps:

  1. Use Chrome as your browser and ensuring it is up-to-date and being on a desktop to link the funding account (Altruist recommended browser)
  2. Reset the internet browser by clearing cache & cookies in internet settings.

    • Settings > Privacy and Security > Clear Browsing Data

  3. Open a new window.
  4. Disable ad/pop-up blocker.
  5. Disable VPN.
  6. Disable anti-virus software.
  7. Attempt using an incognito window.
